Twenty-one students were enrolled as students of the first military school, including one from the United Kingdom. The Academy offers 16 weeks of courses for prepare private pilot license, which qualifies graduates to fly a plane in the non-commercial category, and 48 weeks of the commercial pilot license, after which a pilot can fly professionally. BIFA has its own training facilities at the aerodrome Letkol Wisnu, 65 km west of Singaraja in the regency of Buleleng.
